Hang Gliding - Fun Day

The funday is an excellent way to try out the sport of hang Gliding to see if it is right for you.  Its also a great day out with friends, trying something new and interesting, even if you have no intention of becoming a pilot, but be warned its highly addictive!

Day plan

The day starts with Safety briefings from your instructor.   You will then look at the hang glider, its parts and functions, and learn how to complete a daily inspection, which must be completed on any aircraft before flight.  For the next few hours you will be learning to launch the glider and use directional control to keep it going straight and introduce mild turns.  We will also look into slow and fast flight appreciation, altering the speed of the wing, and the landing flare.  This normally takes up the morning, so its a convenient place to stop and have a lunch / fluid break.

During the afternoon, the aim is to start getting people flying the gliders solo, using everything you have learnt in the morning session. You should expect about 5 solo flights reaching heights of 5-10-15-20+ foot,  starting off low and progressing slightly higher with each flight if you get on ok.  The heights will depend on the weather conditions.

The end of the day you will sit down with your instructor and have a de briefing session over a much earned coffee / beer.  Congratulations, you have just completed your first day of hang gliding training!  If you wished to continue with a EP course, the funday will count towards it, if you book after the day, the price of the funday will be deducted of the course cost, so you don't loose out.
